Did you even watch the documentary? It made no issue of religion, or even of government. Sure, it showed corruption in the local policing forces, but it certainly was not indepth and its point was merely to show that those who CAN help are hurting instead.\n\nThe purpose of this documentary is to show you something that\'s happening in YOUR world that you don\'t know about. It\'s to inform you, so that you can no longer say, "Well I would have done something, but I didn\'t know." Why are you bringing other crap into this? The Catholic Church, the military, abuse in America... yes, we know. It all sucks. This documentary didn\'t dispute that claim. It just tried to show you one group of people across the sea that were being abused. They didn\'t even ask you to do anything except to be aware of what\'s happening. Knowledge is the first step in revolution.\n\nFunny how Americans like to pick and choose who is worthy of their sympathies. I can\'t believe that after watching a film like this one, all you have to say is--\n\n"how can we keep sending our men and women in harm\'s way, to protect these sick people, they are corrupt as is their country and their religion."\ncharles harrison \n\n"Gay sex is all but protected by anti-discrimination laws protecting homosexual relationships."\nROBERT YEE\n\n"Why are our boys dying needlessly when a country so tradition bound is unable or unwilling to change its ways, don\'t we have enough human rights problems in our own country, the crime rate, the pornography, the continual monitoring of our own government, since we are slowly becoming aware that "something is not quite right lately"... I pray for our country and for the world since, without our old traditions of kindness and fairness to all, we will go the way of third world countries, we are losing our values and for what...so that evil will prevail? When foreigners came to this country in the 1900\'s, they learned the language, they enriched our communities by building,growing,learning..there was no violence and if it would occur, it was quickly snuffed out, by an honest police force and a government that worked FOR THE PEOPLE-ALL PEOPLE!!"\nHelen Piechotta\n\nCHARLES and HELEN-- Who said we were there to protect the "sick" people of Afghanistan or to "change their ways"? You know that\'s not why we\'re there. It\'s money and power, so stop using the war argument as though it\'s a humanitarian issue. Until the U.S. government gets what it wants (or is humiliated into withdrawal), our men and women will remain there. Please don\'t misunderstand me. They should NOT be there and should never have been sent. However, the little boys being kidnapped/bought/traded and raped have nothing to do with this f*$%ing war. Our men and women aren\'t dying because of Afghanis. They\'re dying because our government wants something that isn\'t theirs, and Uncle Sam is more than willing to sacrifice as many enlisted men and women as it takes. Regardless, a child is being raped for the first time as I type this, and another as you read this. Wake up. You\'re human. Act like it.\n\nHELEN-- What country are you talking about exactly, whose old traditions of fairness and kindness to all are becoming lost? And which of those third world countries are you so afraid of becoming? You need to watch more PBS if you think this country has ever been fair and kind to ALL its citizens. And you need to do a hefty amount of research if you believe "third world" equals "no values." I can think of several off the top of my head that have lower crime rates and better general health than the U.S.\n\nROBERT-- I hardly know what to say to you. How is "gay sex" in any way related to child rape? I try not to insult when I post, but you sir are a moron.\n\nSHANNON MARIE-- While I respect your post and its attempt at being uplifting, this is no issue of religion. An athiest like myself knows evil as well as any Christian. All men sin, regardless of race, creed, or color. The difference is that in Islamic realms, the truth is banished from the public sphere when it comes to public sins or failings. In the West, the RC scandal is examined, publicized, and, God willing, sorted out. Those guilty are named and the sins of the institution are publicly confessed. This may not happen in the lands where the truth is too much for the rulers and the mullahs to handle. Losing face is a worse fate than the innocent being abused in dar-ul-Islam. And that is called the sin of pride.","pt":"Apr 27, 2010 05:26"},{"nm":"Love the Sinners, Hate the Sin","rs":"0","ms":"Among the many comments to the effect that this has nothing to do with Islam are the few ardent ones that it is completely to be blamed on Islam. The truth, however, is somewhere in between. It is true that Mohamed ibn Abdullah, prophet of Islam, had considerably more than one wife and, according to the hadiths, probably quite a few more concubines. It is also true that though the number of wives (though not concubines taken in war) is limited to other Muslim men to only 4, Mohamed is still revered as the standard to be emulated by Muslim men. The passions of the flesh are to be encouraged and given in to. There is little if anything in any of the mainline mazhabs that can be construed as encouraging of celibacy or the virtue of continence.\n\nNonetheless, it is important to understand that evil is banal and weak, rather than strong. Islam, inasmuch as it has ever had the capacity to speak with one voice, has never officially condined bacha bazi, bestiality, female genital mutilation, aka "circumcision", or any of the other horrors committed throughout those parts of the world where Islam pervades. Its sin is not that it has blessed these things but that it has never had the will or the power to stop them. Islam is not positively destructive, it is simply weak, ineffective, and impotent to actually improve the conditions of the men and, God knows, especially the women and children who are under its sway. Pray for them and for an end to the religion of the God who can not act to save the poor and the weak. As a culture, Americans have become obsessed with vilifying Muslims. Perhaps people aren\'t aware of endemic issues of pedophilia in our own country or religions, but, more likely, it\'s a simple case of pronoucing our beliefs better than others.\n\nIn my opinion, this issue of bacha bazi is far more complex and results from a number of factors coalescing from components beyond simply Islam, particularly since the pedophilia practice predates the existence of Islam. In fact, looking throughout history, most cultural practices are absorbed into religion rather than resulting from religion. Getting rid of Islam will do very little to change many of the practices we abhor because the cultural practices would quickly adapt into whatever the replacement belief system arises.\n\nThe most significant factor involved within practices such as bacha bazi in places such as Afghanistan pertains to the lack of rights for women, a condition that has existed in the region for thousands of years. The men of the region (and others, not just in the Islamic world) lack the environment to develop healthful and meaningful relationships with women until marriage. As a result, a sort of prison culture occurs where men seek companionship through young boys, i.e. the closest physiologically to women, in order to unnaturally satisfy their natural hormonal desires.\n\nIn essence, until this and other similar societies overcome the culturally established hatred and fear of women, practices such as bacha bazi will continue to thrive with or without the presence of our soieties\' usual whipping boy, Islam.","pt":"Apr 25, 2010 03:09"},{"nm":"charles harrison","rs":"0","ms":"how can we keep sending our men and women in harm\'s way, to protect these sick people, they are corrupt as is their country and their religion.","pt":"Apr 23, 2010 09:35"},{"nm":"Meghana","rs":"0","ms":"This is shocking, but nothing in the Islamic world or Afghanistan shocks me anymore. I had just finished watching another documentary on youtube " women in Afghanistan"...about a 4 year old girl being raped, and when her father seeks justice, he is told, " Find 4 witnesses" That is Islam for you. A religion that\'s totally misogynistic. \nIt is also quite common to find girls as young as 8 or 10 married off as 2nd wives to 50 year old men...it is better to be born as a rat in this country than a girl. Once married, you need your husbands permission even to visist your own parents. When 2 girls tried to escape their very abusive husbands, their families would not take them back so they tried to run away disguised as men...and were caught...So how did the religion of peace deal with them? While many men "claim" to serve God, and believe in the wisdom of the bible, written through men, He alone is aware of motives, and their hearts. Our country is blessed to have wisdom that many war torn country\'s do not. Along with a solid set standard ruling democracy. \nWe can\'t judge the many or the week, because of some evil men\'s bad antics. How can we see the truth, and condemn the other innocent people by what "media" portrays on a small level that goes far beyond our knowledge. We should all pray that God gets doors opened for change. Not condemn the many for evil of the few. \nJesus Christ himself told the people to look to God and not man. He died for that door to be opened so we can once again speak to God about the atrocity we are able to be witness to. Or job is only to wait on him to lead. Or job is not to make comments media driven that could lead another to be lead astray by our own selfish views, or opinions. What small good we can do is best kept to our closet time with God. Cry to him. He will lead you in the way to go.\nThe people that came together to open the door to the plight of this warlord, drug, and money driven nation should all be commended. They are the door. Some day the Lord will come knocking again to some of these people, and they will make a choice over their fears to choose life, or death. Through out humanity many of the great leaders were called on to make these decisions. We know that God has said, "If a man values his life, he will lose it for my sake." The evil men pray to a God, that does not know them. \nThe world is just waking up to all of the major changes, and atrocities that face all of humanity, weather it is earth, or spiritually based. With the WWW at our door, many can choose to open their eyes and see and learn the truth, or remain asleep behind the wheel with a cell phone in a hand, and the other hand driving a 3 ton weapon. These "people" in this country are ran by war lords that are able to even get law enforcement to sell their souls for a piece of gold. They don\'t have the opertunity, nor the websites, e mails, or even a phone to get a job, and fight for their rights.\nThey bury their children, and they struggle to defend what little they have. This may only be a crust of bread, or a clean water supply.\nHelen, while I comment you and respect your views, you post was sided from the thought of living in a free country that many of our shared ancestors died to give us. Condemning a war torn country with no means to make a change is not going to help anyone, least of all the ones that are put in bondage, and suffer for any foot hold they try to get for their neighbors, or even family members. It is all to easy for you, and people like yourself to point a finger of condemnation, yet not become involved in a firm solution. \nWhen we go to a persons home we knock at the door, we neither stop to yell at the door, nor thank it for showing us to the "entity" we wish to communicate with. When you have issues with world behaviors, take this to God, go and pray in private. He will hear. He will tell you which way to go, what to do. He will open more doors for any of you reading this to hear him, and make a difference to the things that trouble you. \nThe Lord God calls his "true" people to battle, this is not a game, this is for all of the anti. Satan\'s best ploy was to make humanity think he does not exists. While your sleeping he is busy draining you of life, and gifts God has given you. The test of a true servant, is to put on your armor at all times, and wait to hear how you will be used. \nThis program made me weep. But I came here to post to all of the people, much as to reporter Najibullah Quraishi to keep the faith, continue to be vigil, God is sending in people for you to be protected, as much spiritually, as physically. That you are leading many people into an awakening of the murder, kidnapping, and deviant behaviors of some men in this world. I am praying for you and the others that jeopardized your lives to shine a light on the truth.\nDon\'t be ashamed of having fear. Even the wisest, and battle ready soldiers have this. The goals is to "do it afraid." \nKeeping the people that can\'t fight for them selves in your heart. I hope this gives you some strength. God bless all of you. \nShannon Marie","pt":"Apr 21, 2010 16:36"},{"nm":"ROBERT YEE","rs":"0","ms":"The Frontline story on the Dancing Boys of Afghanistan is very disturbing and tragic. Gay sex is all but protected by anti-discrimination laws protecting homosexual relationships. Pornography is endemic on the internet. It\'s easy to see the speck in another person\'s eye while ignoring the log in one\'s own eye.\nIt seems even the Catholic Church is caught up in the evil acts of sexual abuse of children. America has lost its hold on the moral high ground. ","pt":"Apr 21, 2010 15:42"},{"nm":"Helen Piechotta","rs":"0","ms":"My husband and I were shocked and appalled by the segment "The Dancing Boys". It certainly took a lot of courage on the part of Radhika and Jamie Doran, the producer of this documentary; however, we are concerned that we have never heard of this country\'s strange "tradition" and that is what it appears to be, just as the abuse of the poor women, who are merely child bearers, that would soon lose their sons, if they are unlucky enough to have a money hungry husband. What are we doing in Afghanistan? Why are our boys dying needlessly when a country so tradition bound is unable or unwilling to change its ways, don\'t we have enough human rights problems in our own country, the crime rate, the pornography, the continual monitoring of our own government, since we are slowly becoming aware that "something is not quite right lately". The computer age has brought a lot of this to our attention and, fortunately, our young people are responding. This is not a political quest; however, if we continue to fight battles with countries that hate christianity, abuse their own families, spend their lives in hovels rather than actually "working" for a living, we will destroy the very essence of what America is all about. By helping those that simply do not care about their lifestyle, we are condoning it. I cannot understand why America has not publicized events like "bacha bazi" earlier. We are a kind and loving country yet we avoid looking into the reality of what these countries are all about. We cannot contain the borders in our own country, creating a sea of crime that is destroying city after city, yet we go out of our way to fight for those who would still continue their traditions, feeding them millions of dollars (that we need for our own people) and they are dealing in country wide prostitution, laughing at how they raped one innocent boy, probably after he was drugged. These are not men, these are cowards, depending on drugs and sex to keep them happy; if this is their tradition, why do we condone the muslim faith, that is if they do believe in any type of "faith". I thought that, when they would die an honorable death, like blowing up a New York tunnel, they would rise up to Allah and spend their lives on a cloud with a bevy of virgins, perhaps they meant virgin BOYS!! This is a disgusting practice, and if the government turns a blind eye to it, then we must get out of there and start cleaning up our act IN THIS COUNTRY. I\'m so disgusted, as is my husband; the Directorof Unicef in Mazar-e-Sharif will not get anywhere, although he is a brave man. If we, in this mighty country of America, cannot control crime and child abuse, how can a country so rooted in this tradition clean up its own deviance. I pray for our country and for the world since, without our old traditions of kindness and fairness to all, we will go the way of third world countries, we are losing our values and for what...so that evil will prevail? When foreigners came to this country in the 1900\'s, they learned the language, they enriched our communities by building,growing,learning..there was no violence and if it would occur, it was quickly snuffed out, by an honest police force and a government that worked FOR THE PEOPLE-ALL PEOPLE!!
