We are between the age range of 16 and 17, and all share the common thoughts about multi tasking. Taking the course, ITGS, and having the opportunity to increase our knowledge of IT in the world today, we believe multi tasking is both positive and negative, as it has an effect on us, the new generation. Many teens today spend endless hours on social networking sites, or game rooms, often trying to combine school work with their social life or hobbies. The problem that results in multi tasking is the addiction to the internet and the unfocused, unorganized life most of us live in today’s world. Some of the negative influences multitasking can have on a teenager are that of not being fully committed and concentrated on their studies. Social networking sites, or online videos and episodes appeal much more to teenagers, often trying to switch screens between the two, which makes their work more fragmented and not solid enough. However, there are sections of multitasking that benefit us, for example the skill and talent of being able to do more than one thing at once, without being overwhelmed. Let’s admit this to ourselves; we all are all distracted by the new technology causing us to multi task. But let’s reconsider, is the scandal made over multi tasking really that necessary? Or should we just go on accepting that multi tasking has become an immense part of our lives?\t\t- Ellie, Cristina, and Nikos ","pt":"Mar 31, 2010 05:16"},{"nm":"capitano underpant-o-","rs":"0","ms":"Modern online multiplayer games have many hidden applications to the real world these days. Most of them have experience on every field but the main ones are the ones that are trained professional in that field of work. This relates to WOW because in the game they go in teams, and every player has mastered a specific power in the game to make the ultimate fighting group. Flash forward to 2007: I was thinking about an ad I had seen the night before, and it occurred to me that not only did the computer ads NOT address learning, they stressed the recreational capabilities of computers: how many games, photos, etc. As someone who has taught high school and college for 40+ years, I would assert that computers will do no more than television did to advance education, which is to say, little of nothing. Regardless if you like it or not technology and the world wide web are all ready running out lives. In fact so much so right now that we have run out of valid address and Comcast and other ISPs are forced to put us all behind NATs. The government has all ready made a stand on this by incorporating a new internet protocol(IPv6) which has been created by a non-government non-profit organization, the IETF. This means that our government will not be able to do as much as you think. The power itself lies with in you. Yes you can make it very easy for them to monitor you and restrict your privacy, however on the other spectrum it can make it very hard as well. As for turning your children into zombies, I tend to disagree. Every generation is going to have its issues with the latest and greatest activity or device that comes out. What we should be doing is encouraging proper use of such things and embracing it. The reason why the World Wide Web has gotten so big is because of its incredibly usefulness. One last note, if you noticed what happened to china with Google you will see that it is completely impossible for the government to restrict anything. Google, which owns a very large portion of our Internet is considering pulling out of china. Can you imagine what would happen the the US if this happened. It wouldn\'t be pretty and you can bet the government does not want to see this happen. In conclusion, yes technology and the "web" can be a dangerous and scary place. We are relying on technology way too much. Once the government takes full control of technology and the internet our kids will be hopeless. They won\'t even know how to do simple math on a piece of paper. The internet will soon be censored like in China and will replace the television brain washing used in the last few generations. What we should be worried about the most though is the invasion of privacy. In the video it shows the principle sitting at his desk monitoring the kids via the web cam on every students lap top. This is done without the students knowledge. The principle can even take pictures of your child. Now what happens when your child bring their lap top home to do their home work and leaves it on their desk.
